Fairport Late Scoring Shuts Down Spencerport Comeback; 5-3

On Monday, the Red Raiders travelled west out to Spencerport for their regular season finale. They came into this game coming off a non-league loss at Auburn. Ending the year with a win was a must, gaining some momentum as they lead into Sectionals.

Fairport offense got started early in the second. Owen Andreatta scored on a wild pitch that Jackson Rucker reached first on. Jon Roessel got himself an RBI in the same inning with a well-placed liner into left, scoring Scotty Thompson. Rucker would go around the bases and score on a Stephen Rizzolo fielder’s choice.

Spencerport trailed 3-0 through two innings. In the third, Noah Barravecchia scored on a Bryon Streb single. Frank Grad scored on a Nick Freville liner that led to an error. In the fourth, the Rangers evened the score, Lorenzo Tantalo scored on a Kyle Milburn single.

Fairport took back control of the game in the seventh and final frame. A Sam Miller triple scored Rizzolo. In the next at-bat, Andreatta doubled scoring Miller and giving the Red Raiders a 5-3 lead.

Will Nunn got the win on the bump for Fairport. He threw 3.2 innings, and shut the Rangers out.
