On Monday, James Capellupo proved that he is arguably the best pitcher in Section V. The Warriors have a dominant offense that is consistently raking – shoving seven hitless innings against them would be unthinkable – if it weren’t for Capellupo. He retired 17 Warriors hitters, and walked only two batters for the Cadets over his seven frame start. Capellupo tied a Section V record with most shutouts in a single-season with five.
Capellupo got the scoring started as well, after stealing second and third, he scored off a Touloupas error at the dish. Another run would score in the third frame, as Michael Heise lined it hard into center which scored Brady Gerig. The third and final run of the game would be scored by Joey Sanna after a Bianchi sac-fly in the fourth.
Wednesday would be a different story for the Warriors. Getting no-hit would leave a sour taste in any teams mouth. With Nolan Gamble on the hill, and a chip on their shoulder, nothing was stopping these Warriors.
The scoring started in the third with a Tyler Cannon double that scored Jack Cannon from second. Julian piled a doubled on as well that scored Cannon. Zac Touloupas added an RBI as well with a hard grounder into left. Runs would score in the fourth as Jack Cannon hit a hard grounder into left scoring both Pagano and Maier. Miscommunication by Hilton would give Tyler Cannon a pop-fly single that scored Jack Cannon from third. In the fifth, Jack Kelly and Jack Cannon added RBI’s that scored Pagano and Maier. The last of the Warriors scoring came in the sixth. McCaffrey and Leonardo both added RBI’s for Schroeder.
Nolan Gamble ended the night with a win. He threw six innings allowing just four hits and one run, retiring five Cadet batters.
Junior southpaw, Steven Kraus, stepped up to the dish after the night hadn’t gone his way on the hill. He put all of his frustration into a fastball that he would take deep over the right-field wall. Steve owned the only run of the night for the Cadets.
