Cadets Close Out Regular Season in Blow-Out Fashion Against Greece Athena; 13-3

On Wednesday, the Schwonke hosted the Greece Athena Trojans in a rematch of an early-season matchup. In their first meeting, the Trojans took home the win in a 5-3 contest. Hilton sought out revenge, and they executed perfectly.

Steve Kraus took the hill for the Cadets, allowing only two hits and collecting four strikeouts in just two innings – presumably to save his arm for Sectionals. Michael Whelehan came in after and shut down the Trojan bats, allowing just one hit and striking out a pair of batters. Charlie Streb closed out the game on the bump, throwing only the seventh frame, allowing no hits.

Leading the red-hot Cadet offense was James Capellupo who doubled twice, and cashed in two runs. Andrew Lenhard collected a pair of his own RBI’s on a well-hit grounder into left. Brady Gerig was an offensive threat as well, collecting two hits, an RBI, and working two walks. Joey Sanna doubled for the ‘Dets. Jeff Broadnax smoked a triple that scored Sanna. The Cadets worked together to come through with timely hits and executed well at the plate. When the Hilton bats are on, paired with their wall of a defense, not much can stop them.
