Lucas Leone went yard in his first at-bat on Thursday afternoon. His three run blast gave Aquinas a lead that they successfully maintained throughout the night.
In the bottom of the first frame, Tre Walker and Ryan Lewin walked. Leone wasted no time cashing in the free runners. In the third set, Caleb Wilson singled, moving Leone to second, and Lewin to third. A Pat Altpeter sac-fly brought in Lewin for the fourth run. The Irish cashed in their final two runs in the sixth set. A Jimmy Marotta RBI groundout scored Rosado, moving Dom Bronco over to third. Bronco would go on to score on a wild pitch.
Canandaigua made a last effort rally in the top of the seventh, tacking on three more runs. Crunick scored on a Harris RBI groundout, Barnes scored on a Clark RBI groundout, and Barone scored on a Pawlicki liner into left.
The rally ultimately fell short, and Aquinas’ six runs would suffice. The Irish won their seventh consecutive game, bringing them to a record of 10-4.
