Sardou Slam and Saints Offense Help Sweep the Series at Brighton; 11-6

Junior Michael Sardou has been on a tear as of late. Smacking out his second homer in just four games.

The Saints travelled to Brighton on Wednesday, seeking to reignite the bats that struggled to string in runs the previous night. Parker Farnham continued his dominance at the dish with a triple in the top of the second. Jaylen Lopez scored Farnham on an infield single.

A butter-smooth double play turned by Braedon Reina got the Saints out of trouble in the first, allowing just two runs to score. Justin Meister packed on two RBI’s on a liner to center, scoring Romich and Campbell.

The Saints needed to add on some more runs, as Brighton had taken a 5-3 lead in the third. They did just that with Lopez scoring on a wild pitch. Romich would then be hit by pitch, walking in Morsch and leaving the bases loaded. Another wild pitch went on to score Reina, and pitching change would occur. A Sardou sacrifice would score Campbell.

Dom Morsch smacked a double into left, scoring Stewart. This is when Sardou would go yard, just right of dead-centerfield, giving the Saints a 9-6 cushion in the sixth.

The Saints blew the game open in the top of the seventh, padding on two more runs. Farnham scored on an error after stealing third, and Morsch added another RBI on a sacrifice, scoring Lopez.

Drew Stewart came in for four shutout relief innings, allowing just one hit, and striking out seven.
