Baseball sweeps Bard in doubleheader, 13-1, 15-7
Annandale-on-Hudson, N.Y. – The RIT baseball team swept Bard in a doubleheader, Sunday, by scores of 13-1 and 15-7.
GAME ONE – RIT 13, Bard 1
- Leading 3-0 through four innings, the Tigers added two more runs in the fifth. Junior Charlie Slaymaker scored on a sacrifice fly from senior Adam Marsh, who then scored RIT’s second run of the inning on a single by sophomore Isaac Braegelmann.
- Bard got on the board in the bottom of the sixth inning when Gavin Gonzalez drove in Sam Dumper with a single to left field.
- The Tigers added eight runs in the ninth inning, which included a three-run double from Roberto Reade.
- Junior starting pitcher Luc Risingimproved to 3-0 after recording five scoreless innings, allowing three hits and two walks to go along with three strikeouts.
GAME TWO – RIT 15, Bard 7
- RIT scored five runs in the second inning to extend its lead to 8-0. Senior Sam Kulp opened the scoring in the second by stealing home.
- Bard scored five runs over the next two innings, which trimmed the Tigers’ lead down to four runs.
- Senior Randy Dodig brought in graduate student John Bagley with a sacrifice fly out to left field in the fourth inning to make it 9-5.
- The Tigers tacked on three runs in the seventh inning before adding a run in the eighth and ninth to extend the lead to nine.
- Sophomore Mikey Zacher finished the game a perfect 6-of-6 at the place, scoring one run and recording a career-best 4 RBIs.
