Coach Beach Notches 400th Career Win, #17 Baseball Routs SUNY Poly in DH Action
Brockport, NY- Head Coach Justin Beach notched his 400th career win as #17 Baseball swept SUNY Poly in doubleheader action from the Clark V. Whited Complex on Saturday, April 12th. The Golden Eagles improved to 21-2-1 overall and 10-0 in Empire 8 after the wins.
Game One: Brockport 7 – SUNY Poly 1 (7 innings)
Anthony Lapine (W, 6-0) posted another terrific outing, tossing 6.1 innings of one-run ball with seven strikeouts and just three hits allowed.
Josh Indek (4-4, 2B) led Brockport with four hits and three runs scored, adding a stolen bag.
Zach Eldred and Kyle Blake would get Brockport ahead early, with each ripping an RBI single in the first to go up 2-0. Blake would add a sacrifice fly in the third to give the Golden Eagles a 3-0 edge.
In the fifth inning, Zach Eldred would launch a towering blast to right field, with his two-run homer putting the Green and Gold up 5-0.
Brockport would add two more runs in the sixth, with James Simoncelli stealing home and Frank Vanzillota scoring Brian Hoffman with an RBI single.
The Wildcats would strike for a home run in the seventh, but Troy Leibert would get the final two outs to secure the 7-1 win.
Game Two: Brockport 11 – SUNY Poly 2
Zach Eldred (4-5, HR) had a phenomenal day at the plate, leading Brockport with four hits, three RBIs, and three runs. Eldred’s home run in the seventh was the second of the DH and his 10th of the season.
Ryan Peters (W, 4-0) was strong throughout, allowing just two runs in six innings of work with six punchouts.
SUNY Poly would strike early, scoring in the 2nd and 3rd innings to jump in front 2-0.
The Golden Eagles would take over in the 5thinning, scoring seven runs in the frame.
Josh Indek got things started with an RBI single, followed by RBI hits from Eldred, James Dixon, and Cole Grazioplene (3B).
Brockport would add runs in the 6th and 7thinnings, with Jason Story and Victor Alongi ripping RBI singles to put Brockport up 9-2 entering the 7thinning.
Zach Eldred rounded out the scoring with yet another homer in the 7th inning, scoring Frank Vanzillota and helping to give Brockport an 11-2 win.
James Dixon (2-4, 2 RBI0, Victor Alongi (2-4, 1 RBI), and Cole Grazioplene (2-5, 2 RBI) all recorded multi-hit efforts. Grazioplene would record his first hit, RBI, and triple a Golden Eagle.

17 Baseball Downs SUNY Poly 9-5, Completes Three-Game Sweep
Brockport, NY- The #17 ranked Brockport baseball team completed a three-game sweep of SUNY Poly, defeating the Wildcats 9-5 in game three on Sunday, April 13th. The Golden Eagles improved to 22-2-1 overall and 11-0 in Empire 8 play.
SUNY Poly would jump to a significant lead in the first, scoring three runs from a pair of RBI doubles and a sacrifice fly.
The Golden Eagles would quickly respond in the bottom of the inning, with Zach Eldred and Jason Story smacking RBI singles to bring Brockport within one (3-2).
The Green and Gold would post a big second inning, scoring four runs to take a 6-3 lead. Josh Indek’s RBI single would tie the game at 3-3 before Zach Eldred would connect for his 11th home run of the season. Eldred’s three-run blast marks his third homer in as many games.
Brockport would continue to add to their lead, with Kyle Blake connecting for an RBI single in the fourth inning to jump ahead 7-3.
With the bases empty in the 5th inning, Victor Alongi would drill a line drive home run to left field, his first of the season to extend Brockport’s advantage to 8-3.
Brody Liddy of SUNY Poly would keep the Wildcats close, blasting a two-run home run to bring SUNY Poly within three (8-5).
Kyle Blake would secure an insurance run in the eighth inning, scoring Indek with an RBI double for Brockport’s ninth run of the afternoon.
Tyler Pohlman (S,1) would close out the contest for Brockport, allowing no hits and adding a punchout to give Brockport the 9-5 win.
Eric Servellon (W, 1-0) was strong out of the bullpen for Brockport, tossing 5.1 innings with two strikeouts and two runs allowed.
Josh Index (2-4, RBI) led all players with four runs scored, reaching base safely three times.
Zach Eldred (2-4, HR) led all players with four RBIs, adding a run scored.
