Lakers ground the Hawks for their third conference win
OSWEGO, NY – The Oswego State Men’s Basketball team was back in action Tuesday when they hosted the reigning SUNYAC playoff champions, the SUNY New Paltz Hawks.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Prior to the game today, the Lakers honored Xavier Allen who scored his 1000th career point earlier this season at SUNY Brockport.
In the first 7 minutes of action, the Lakers built a 13-point lead over the Hawks. Oswego was defeated last season in the conference championship by New Paltz on the same floor and the Lakers did not forget. 1000-point scorer Xavier Allenknocked down multiple jumpers along with Steven Bradley to help Oswego maintain their lead. New Paltz shrunk the gap before the end of the half but a three pointer from Steven Bradley made the score 36-32 in favor of the Lakers at the break.
Cole Kattan hit back-to-back jumpers to open the second half putting the Hawks on their heels. Deacon Judd and Gary McLanemade some additions of their own increasing the lead to as high as 14. However, New Platz did not go quietly, in the final few minutes of play, it was Deacon Judd and Xavier Allen who put New Paltz away with free throws and a jumper to secure a big conference win at home.

The Oswego State Lakers will hit the road this Friday to take on the SUNY Morrisville Mustangs. Tip-off is set for 7:30 PM.
