Cogliandro Scores Five In 19-9 Thrashing Of Western New England
ROCHESTER, NY – Junior Louis Cogliandronetted a career-high five goals and the Nazareth men’s lacrosse team cruised to a 19-9 victory over Western New England on Sunday at NLPA Field. Kyle Rosenberger and William O’Neill each finished with four points on three goals and one assist.
Nazareth is now 4-4 on the season, while Western New England drops to 2-5.
It was another strong day at the face-off x for Jakob Denkenberger who went 23-31 (.741).
After Western New England scored the first goal of the game, Nazareth ripped off the next six goals to open up a 6-1 lead.
Back-to-back goals from Luke Suchyna and then Matthew Farrington on the man-up pushed Nazareth’s lead to 8-2 midway through the second.
It was 8-4 at the half.
The Golden Bears were able to pull within 8-7 after scoring the first three goals of the second half, before Nazareth scored the next five to reclaim control at 13-7 to end the quarter.
Rosenberger had a pair of goals on the run, with Andy Hamel, Cogliandro, and O’Neill netted goals on the run. Hamel had two goals in the win.
Nazareth scored the last five goals of the game to make it 19-9.
Brendan Regan, Michael Bergan, and Luke Suchyna each scored their first goals of the year. George Monahan had two assists.
McLean Ralston made 13 saves in the winning effort.
