Women’s Basketball Opens Empire 8 Play With 79-55 Win
GENESEO, N.Y. – The SUNY Geneseo women’s basketball team faced the Keuka Wolves on Saturday afternoon for their first Empire 8 match up of the season. The Knights rolled to a decisive 79-55 victory, improving their overall record to 7-2.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Knights built a comfortable lead to open the first quarter, scoring seven unanswered points to start. The Wolves chipped away at the deficit, but Geneseo maintained a 20-14 edge as the clock expired.
- Geneseo struck first in the second quarter, with Grace Galgano finishing a layup in the paint. The Knights continued to build on their momentum and closed the half with a 41-29 lead.
- Geneseo broke the game open in the third quarter, outscoring Keuka 23-10 behind an 11-for-16 effort from the field. Kristin Suydampowered the offense with six points inside, helping Geneseo extend its lead to 64-39 heading into the fourth quarter.
- The Knights continued their offensive surge down the final stretch and cruised to a 79-55 win over Keuka.
