Men’s Soccer Escapes Sage, 1-0

ROCHESTER, NY – Junior Tyler Warmingtonstayed hot, notching the loan goal of the game, to guide Nazareth to a 1-0 win over Sage on Saturday at Golden Flyer Stadium. Nazareth moves to 6-3-2 overall, and 4-2 in Empire 8 play, while Sage drops to 6-5-2 and 1-4-2, respectively. 

How it Happened:

  • Nazareth’s Alexander Kobayashi beat two defenders just outside of the box and fired a shot off the post in the 22nd minute 
  • Shortly after the Golden Flyers got on the board on a long ball from Kobayashi that was headed by Samuel Burton and Warmington got behind the defense to slide it past the keeper to open up the scoring. Warmington has now scored four goals in the last four games
  • Each team had goals disallowed in the game, Sage in the first half, and Nazareth in the second
  • Sage had the better of play for the second half and had a header hit off the post in 82nd minute 
  • The Gators finished with a 20-13 edge in shots after outshooting Naz 14-5 in the second
  • Bryan Tirado had his fifth shutout of the season after making a career-high eight saves in net
