Blankenberg Headlines Men’s Basketball E8 All-Conference Selections

ROCHESTER, NY – On Thursday, the Empire 8 announced all-conference selections with Graduate Student Logan Blankenbergheadlining for Nazareth as a first team selection. Fellow graduate student Jordan Haggard, along with sophomore guard Jaylen Savage were second team honorees. Junior Jack Broderick was Nazareth’s representative on the Sportsman of the Year Team.
After being a third-team selection in 2022-23, Blankenberg blossomed as a graduate student, finishing fifth in conference-only play by averaging 17.5 points per game and sixth in rebounds at 6.8. He was also eighth in field goal percentage at .508 in 16 games. Earlier this season, Blankenberg joined the 1,000-point club at Nazareth. The Ontario, NY native has scored at least 15 points in 20 of 25 games this season. He is tied for the team lead with 53 3-pointers this season on 44.5 percent.
Haggard, who was also a third team selection in 2022-23 with Blankenberg, takes a spot on the second team after finishing 10th in points at 15.1 in 16 games. The versatile Haggard ranks fourth in the conference in field goal percentage at 58.6. This season, Haggard is averaging 13.3 points and 5.5 rebounds. He scored a career-high 27 points against Keuka on February 6.
Joining Haggard on the second team is Savage, the reigning Empire 8 Rookie of the Year. Savage was 13th in scoring among all conference foes at 14.1 points per game and ranked sixth in field goal percentage at 52.3. He also was 12th in assists at 2.4 per game seventh in steals at 1.3 per game.
Broderick is Nazareth’s representative on the Sportsman of the Year team after averaging 10.2 points (18th) and 6.8 rebounds (7th) in conference play. One member of each team was named that institution’s representative on the 2023-24 Men’s Basketball Sportsman of the Year Team. The Empire 8 Conference emphasizes that “Competing with Honor and Integrity” is an essential component of a student-athlete’s experience in conjunction with an institution’s educational mission. These honorees have distinguished themselves and consistently exhibit the critical traits as outstanding sportsmen.
