McQuaid Jesuit Varsity Knights fell behind early and couldn’t come back in a 10-7 loss to Webster Schroeder on Friday. Webster Schroeder scored on a triple by Julian in the first inning, a double by Cannon in the first inning, a single by Simpson in the second inning, a single by Juliano in the second inning, a fielder’s choice by Julian in the second inning, a error in the second inning, and a single by Touloupas in the second inning.
Despite the loss, McQuaid Jesuit Varsity Knights did collect six hits in the high-scoring affair. Unfortunately, Webster Schroeder had 11 hits on the way to victory.
Webster Schroeder got things started in the first inning. Julian tripled on a 2-1 count, scoring two runs.
McQuaid Jesuit Varsity Knights notched five runs in the sixth inning. The rally was led by singles by Sam Stone and Luca Ciaramitaro, a groundout by Connor Forkey, and an error on a ball put in play by Thomas Bailey.
Webster Schroeder scored six runs in the second inning. Webster Schroeder batters contributing to the big inning included Simpson, Juliano, Julian, Cannon, and Touloupas, who each had RBIs in the inning.
Kelly led the Webster Schroeder to victory on the mound. The pitcher lasted five innings, allowing three hits and three runs while striking out seven. Gamble threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen.
Preston Foryt took the loss for McQuaid Jesuit Varsity Knights. Foryt went one and two-thirds innings, allowing nine runs on eight hits, striking out one and walking zero.
Ciaramitaro went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead McQuaid Jesuit Varsity Knights in hits.
Webster Schroeder racked up 11 hits on the day. Touloupas, Cannon, and Juliano all had multiple hits for Webster Schroeder.
