Fairport dominates Brighton

Four runs batted in from Sam Miller helped lead Fairport Varsity Red Raiders past Brighton Varsity Bruins 19-3 on Friday. Miller drove in runs on a double in the fifth, a double in the fifth, and a fielder’s choice in the sixth.

Fairport Varsity Red Raiders secured the victory thanks to 11 runs in the fifth inning. Miller, Scott Thompson, Owen Andreatta, Antonio Jorge, Jack Bushnell, and Stephen Rizzolo all contributed in the big inning with RBIs.

Fairport Varsity Red Raiders tallied 11 runs in the fifth inning. Fairport Varsity Red Raiders offense in the inning was led by Miller, Thompson, Andreatta, Jorge, Bushnell, and Rizzolo, all driving in runs in the frame.

Nate VanDeVoorde led the Fairport Varsity Red Raiders to victory on the mound. The righty surrendered one run on three hits over four innings, striking out six. Matt Lindquist, JD Ostrander, and Will Nunn all put in work in relief out of the bullpen, steering their team towards the victory.

Nolan Bonnell took the loss for Brighton Varsity Bruins. The righthander surrendered nine runs on nine hits over four innings, striking out three and walking one.

Fairport Varsity Red Raiders collected 17 hits. Miller, Bushnell, Rizzolo, and Will Stanek all had multiple hits for Fairport Varsity Red Raiders. Miller led Fairport Varsity Red Raiders with three hits in five at bats.

John Ahrens went 2-for-2 at the plate to lead Brighton Varsity Bruins in hits.
