Men’s Soccer Rallies Late To Defeat Houghton, 2-1
ROCHESTER, NY – Late goals from Tyler Warmington and Joey Weaver push Nazareth over Empire 8 rival Houghton. The Golden Flyers improve to 5-2-2 and 3-1 in conference play.
How It Happened:
- The Golden Flyers came out fast to begin the game, outshooting Houghton 9-1 through the first 20 minutes of play
- In the 24th minute, Spencer Neil was all alone off a great through ball from Quentin Herrmann, but a save by the Houghton Goalkeeper kept the game scoreless. This chance marked Neil’s third shot of the game
- Nazareth ended the first half outshooting Houghton 14-3, with 8 of those shots being on target
- Nine minutes into the second half, Sam Romanosky made a beautiful pass across to Tyler Warmington and his shot went off the right post, keeping the game scoreless
- WIth 27 minutes to play, Houghton was rewarded a PK where they would capitalize and take the 1-0 lead
- In the 75th minute, the Golden Flyers would respond when Tyler Warmington scored on a right footed shot to beat the goalkeeper, tying the game 1-1. Freshman Samuel Burtonmade a great pass to set up the opportunity for Tyler Warmington
- With just 3 minutes left to play, Joey Weaver stole the ball from the Houghton defense and ripped a right footed shot to the top corner to give Nazareth the lead. Joey Weaver was able to take advantage of a miscommunication from Houghton

- Tyler Warmington tallied his 4th goal of the season, tying him for the team lead
- Freshman Joey Weaver recorded his first career goal as Golden Flyer
