CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. – Lakers baseball began their busy week of play as they approach the postseason with a 9-inning single game against the Monroe Community College Tribunes in a non-region showdown on the FLCC Multi-use Turf on Monday, April 29th. After two scoreless innings, the Tribunes broke open the deadlock with three runs in the third. The Lakers rallied to take a 4-3 lead in the fifth before Monroe regained the lead in the top of the sixth inning.

It was clutch hits from Collin Clark(Pittsford, N.Y./Pittsford-Mendon) and Jeffrey Broadnax (Hilton, N.Y./Hilton) that allowed the Lakers to storm back and take the lead in the bottom of the seventh. Freshman Alex Dungey (Webster, N.Y./Webster Thomas) would stand out as the difference-maker as he pitched three scoreless innings of relief without allowing a run or a hit to secure the victory and the win on the mound.

Sophomore Danny Melendez (Victor, N.Y./Victor) played a crucial role in the lineup, delivering a solid three-hit performance with one RBI and two runs scored. Sophomore Matthew DiSanti(Farmingdale, N.Y./Farmingdale), who delivered a game-winning RBI in the game prior, stood out with two runs and two hits in crunch time. Freshman Christian Morrison(Macedon, N.Y./Palmyra-Macedon) came up big in the nine spot, providing a boost with two hits, including a double.

The Lakers have a quick turnaround as they continue their series with SUNY Niagara with a doubleheader at 2 & 4 PM. After splitting with the Thunderwolves at home, the Lakers will look to take the series at home with a win.
