Lakers Bounce Back With Comfortable Win in Second Vegas Matchup

LAS VEGAS, NV – The Oswego State Men’s Basketball looked to bounce back in their second game in Vegas in a matchup with #21 Pomona-Pitzer. A strong performance on both sides of the ball saw the Lakers finish 2023 with a comfortable 79-50 victory.  

 
THE BASICS 
 
Final Score: #4 Oswego 79 (8-1, 2-0 SUNYAC), #21 Pomona-Pitzer 50 (9-2, 2-0 SCIAC) 
Location: South Point Arena | Las Vegas, NV 
 
HOW IT HAPPENED 

–          Pomona-Pitzer would jump out to an early lead to start the first half, taking a 12-5 lead over the Lakers 5 minutes into the game.

–          The next 8 minutes of the half would be played evenly with both teams trading baskets.

–          The Lakers shooters would hit their stride at the end of the half as Oswego went on a 20-4 run to take the lead which they would not relinquish for the remainder of the game.

–          The first half ended with the Lakers in the lead 35-22.

–          The Lakers would shoot even better in the second half, making 52% of their shots and knocking down 44 points, including 21 from beyond the three-point line.

–          Oswego outscored Pomona-Pitzer 44-28 in the second half to coast to a 79-50 victory.

–          Jeremiah Sparks scored 29 points and was named to the All-Tournament Team.

–          Ahkee Anderson had 15 points and 7 rebounds while Jamal Achille scored 9 points and recorded 11 rebounds.

WHAT’S NEXT 
 
The Lakers come back east and continue SUNYAC play on Friday when they host the Brockport Golden Eagles at 7:30 in the Max Ziel Gymnasium.
