Lakers Cruise to Victory Over SUNY Poly

UTICA, N.Y. – The Oswego State Women’s Basketball closed out the 2022 portion of their schedule with a trip to Utica for a matchup with the SUNY Polytechnic Wildcats. The Lakers controlled the game to return home with a comfortable 67-43 win.   

THE BASICS
Final Score: Oswego 67 (6-2, 2-0 SUNYAC), SUNY Poly 43 (1-9, 1-2 NAC) 
Location: Campus Center Gym | Utica, N.Y. 

HOW IT HAPPENED 

  • The Lakers would start the game quickly, getting out to a 9-3 lead behind 5 points from Karleigh Leo.
  • The Wildcats would battle back to equalize, and the first quarter would end with a score of 13-13.
  • The game would not remain close beyond that point as the Lakers would dominate the 2nd quarter to head into halftime leading by a score of 32-19.
  • Oswego would continue to play strong on both sides of the ball in the second half to cruise to a comfortable 67-43 victory over the hosts.
  • Logan CastiglioneKarleigh Leo, and Giavanna White-Principio would all hit double digit scoring on the day while Julia Logana recorded 12 rebounds.
  • The Lakers defense held the SUNY Poly shooters to 22.7% on the day (15-66).

WHAT’S NEXT
Oswego will have a couple of weeks off for the holiday break before jumping back into action at home on January 2nd when the Lakers host SUNY Delhi at 4pm.
