How It Happened
- In just the third minute of play, sophomore Carolina Lott-Diamond had a scoring opportunity that saw her firing a shot just wide after the Russell Sage keeper turned the ball over.
- Senior Tatum Overton was sent in for a great scoring chance in the 28th minute by junior Camryn Schiavitti’s nice pass. Overton’s shot just barely missed the mark as Nazareth continued to apply pressure in their offensive half.
- In the 41st minute, freshman Helena Reihs scored her first ever collegiate goal off of a well placed shot into the bottom left corner of the net. Her goal was unassisted, and came as a result of yet another Gators turnover in their own half of the field.
- A well placed corner from Schiavetti found senior Mikayla Campbell on the backdoor for a point-blank scoring chance. Her one-time shot was stopped by the keeper to keep the Golden Flyers lead at one.
- Nazareth dominated the first half of the game, taking 11 shots to Russell Sage’s 3 and controlling the ball for nearly the entire 45 minutes of play. They left the half with a 1-0 lead and tons of momentum.
- The Golden Flyers took a 2-0 lead in the 63rd minute on a goal from sophomore Aubrey Rizzo. Tatum Overton dribbled past two Sage defenders before passing the ball to Rizzo, who took a shot from inside the box and beat the goalkeeper low and to the left.
- Nazareth continued to control the game, making a series of nice passing plays that led to a shot from senior Taylor Ashe that was swallowed by the goalkeeper in the 66th minute.
- The Golden Flyers continued to display their team chemistry in the 82nd minute with another nice passing play, this time leading to a goal. Senior Taylor Ashe buried the shot from point-blank range, with the assist going to freshman Giuliana Rodriguez.
