Eastridge Varsity Lancers Go Down On Final Play Against Sutherland

Eastridge Varsity Lancers fell to Sutherland 2-1 on Monday on the final play of the game. The game was tied at one in the bottom of the seventh when #6 drew a walk, scoring one run.

Both teams were strong on the hill. Sutherland pitchers struck out seven, while Eastridge Varsity Lancers sat down six.

An error put Eastridge Varsity Lancers on the board in the top of the third.

3 doubled to left field following a 7-pitch at-bat, which helped Sutherland tie the game at one in the bottom of the sixth.

5 earned the win for Sutherland. The pitcher surrendered one hit and zero runs over two innings, striking out two and walking one. Aaden Bishop took the loss for Eastridge Varsity Lancers. The starter went six innings, surrendering two runs on four hits, striking out six and walking three. #3 opened the game for Sutherland. The starter allowed four hits and one run (zero earned) over five innings, striking out five and walking five.

Evan Bishop and Nolan O’Neill each collected two hits for Eastridge Varsity Lancers. Eastridge Varsity Lancers had a strong eye at the plate, collecting six walks for the game.

11, #8, #3, and #4 each collected one hit for Sutherland. #6 and #3 each drove in one run for Sutherland. Sutherland turned two double plays in the game.
