Savage Picks Up Empire 8 Men’s Basketball All-Tournament Honors

ROCHESTER, NY – Nazareth junior Jaylen Savage was named to the Empire 8 Men’s Basketball All-Tournament team on Tuesday as announced by the conference office.
The Empire 8 Player of the Year joined Alex Tavarez (Brockport), Cheickne Toure (SUNY Poly), Damien Call (Utica) and Liam Teague (Utica) on the all-tournament team. Call was tabbed the Most Valuable Player.
Savage averaged 28.5 points and 7.5 rebounds in a pair of tournament games, guiding the Golden Flyers to the semifinals. He helped spearheaded the Golden Flyers overcoming a 17-point second half deficit to defeat Sage in the quarterfinals. He was the leading scorer among both teams against both Sage in the quarterfinals and Utica in the semifinals. Over the two games he was 22-for-33 from the field (67 percent) and 10-for-11 from the free throw line.
