#6 Oswego Clinches Third Straight SUNYAC Title with Win Over Geneseo

GENESEO, N.Y. – Oswego State Wen’s Basketball (21-1, 15-0 SUNYAC) hit the road to take on the Geneseo Knights (11-12, 8-8 SUNYAC) Friday evening for a SUNYAC match-up. The Lakers took care of business maintaining their undefeated record in the conference.

Final Score: Oswego 79 (21-1, 15-0 SUNYAC), Geneseo 59 (11-12, 8-8 SUNYAC)

HOW IT HAPPENED 

Ahkee Anderson kicked the game off with a three-pointer followed by a few free throws from Jeremiah Sparks. The Knights followed that up quickly taking a small lead until the Lakers got back-to-back three pointers from Ahkee Anderson and Kenny Lazo to keep Oswego close. A jumper from Kaleb Cook gave the Lakers back the lead with 8 minutes remaining in the half. Oswego State did not look back from there and finished the half off with a three from Jeremiah Sparks to put the Lakers up seven at the break.

In the second half, a layup from Cartier Bowman increased the Laker lead to ten and it was all Oswego from there out. Kenny Lazo added twenty-five points for Oswego off the bench along with eleven bench points from Kaleb Cook. Oswego shot 43% from three outscoring the Knights by 13 in the second half and helping them secure another road SUNYAC win.

This was another historic win for the Lakers because it clinched the number one seed for the SUNYAC post season which marks the first time in program history that men’s basketball will be win three straight regular season titles!
