Biography

Marketing major… son of Marc and Deanna Blankenberg, Ontario, N.Y… returning for a fifth season after starting all 27 games as a senior and finishing third on the team with 12.2 points per game and was tied for second on the team with 4.2 rebounds per game … he was selected to the Mike Daley Tournament All-Tournament team as well as the Mark’s Pizzeria Crosstown Challenge All-Tournament team … scored a season and career-high 21 points at Sage (2/18) on 7-of-9 shooting from the field and 5-of-6 from 3-point range … grabbed a season-best eight rebounds in the opener against Gordon and later grabbed seven rebounds against Rochester (11/19) and at Sage (2/18) … he was the team leader in 3-pointers made (44) and second in both 3-point percentage (.432) and blocked shots (11), third in steals (29) and fourth in assists (43).

2021-22: Blankenberg played 28 games and started 26 … he finished fifth on the team with 8.3 points per game and was fourth on the squad with 3.9 rebounds per contest … he scored a career-best 19 points including 6-for-6 3 pointers at home against Hartwick (2/6/22) and had 11 double-digit scoring games … his best all-around game was the season opener against Cazenovia when he scored 16 and grabbed a season-high nine rebounds.

2020-21: Blankenberg played in all 12 games for the Golden Flyers during the pandemic-shortened 2021 season… averaged 4.9 points and 1.9 rebounds per game in a reserve role… scored a career-high 15 points in Nazareth’s season finale at Utica on 4/9/21… sank a pair of clutch three-point shots in a double overtime win at Russell Sage on 3/19/21… first shot came at the buzzer at the end of regulation to force overtime, then hit a second long-distance shot in the second overtime period.

2019-20: Blankenberg played in all 27 games for the Golden Flyers in 2019-20 and scored 33 points and grabbed 14 rebounds… nine of his 12 field goals made were three-point baskets… had six points on two three-pointers in the Empire 8 Conference championship game against St. John Fisher on 2/29/20

Scholastic: a graduate of Wayne Central, Blankenberg was a three-sport standout there, excelling in football, basketball and baseball… played four seasons of varsity basketball and graduated as Wayne’s all-time leading scorer… two-time Finger Lakes League Player of the Year and first-team All-Greater Rochester in 2018, second team in 2019… helped team to a pair of Section Five championships… earned all-state honors in football and second-team All-Greater Rochester.
