Redhawks Hit NCAA National Standards in Boston

BOSTON, Mass. – A handful of Roberts Wesleyan track and field runners got the most out of the weekend’s meet at the John Thomas Terrier Classic hosted by Boston University, earning NCAA Division II national standards and setting new records for the Redhawks.

Senior Owen White had one of the best days of the season, hitting two NCAA DII standards giving him the opportunity to compete at the NCAA Division II National Championships. White won the 5,000-meter race with a time of 14:22.33. White crossed the line nearly four seconds faster than the DII standard and reset his school.

White was also a part of the Roberts Distance Medley Relay team that broke the 10-minute mark for the first time in program history. White along with Jackson DoranRyan Karkerand Theodore Pintabona crossed the line in 9:58.77. That time also hit the DII standard.

Karker ran both the 800m and 1,000m races at Boston earning the No. 2 all-time spot in the 1,000m with a time of 2:26.41. The grad student also ran 1:52.10 in the 800m.

Senior Blake Kasper finished fourth in the 5,000m with a time of 14:27.56 which surpassed the previous Roberts record, but was broken again by White who was in the same race.

Doran had a solid 3,000m race, crossing the line in 8:26.77 which now stands as No.3 on the Roberts all-time performance list.
