Women’s Hoops Downs Hartwick, 71-42

ROCHESTER, NY – The Nazareth women’s basketball team overcame a 14-point first quarter deficit, cruising to a 71-42 victory over Hartwick College on Saturday. Olivia Dobrovosky led the Golden Flyers with 15 points on 7-for-13 from the floor, nine rebounds, and four assists. 

The Golden Flyers move to 16-2 overall and 8-1 in league play, while Hartwick is 6-11 and 4-5, respectively.

The Golden Flyers had a forgettable first quarter, scoring just four points and going 2-for-15 from the field (13.3 percent).

After missing its first 10 shots of the game, Nazareth trailed 11-0 before Molly Benettiscored a layup with 2:04 to play to get the home team on the board. It was 18-4 after a quarter of play.

The Golden Flyers got their rhythm in the second with Madilann Johnson connecting on a pair of 3-pointers, along with one from Madalyn Kelly. A layup from Sarina McDowell tied the game at 18 just under the five-minute mark. 

Benetti helped Nazareth claw all the way back and take the lead at 20-18. Hartwick had just four points in the second quarter and Naz led 24-22 at the half.

After a pair of free throw from Kiara Anglin, Nazareth took a double digit lead at 37-26 with 2:48 to play. They would keep the lead at double figure the rest of the way. Anglin finished with 11 points, seven rebound, and five assists.

Johnson finished the game 4-for-6 from 3-point land for 12 points, three assists, and four rebounds. 

Katie MacLachlan was in double figures with 10 points, while Kelly notched eight points.

Nazareth returns to action on Saturday, hosting Sage at 2 p.m.

Women’s Hoops Rolls To 83-54 Win Over Sage

Box Score ROCHESTER, NY – The Nazareth women’s basketball squad put together a strong performance on Saturday, downing Sage 83-54 behind 17 points from Molly Benetti.

The Golden Flyers are now 17-2 overall and 9-1 in Empire 8 play. Meanwhile, Sage drops to 4-15 and 2-8, respectively.

Nazareth outscored the Gators in each quarter and ended up shooting 55.6 percent from the field (30-for-54).

The Gators only lead was 2-0 before Nazareth scored 15 straight to take command early.

Benetti finished 7-for-10 from the floor with four rebounds and four blocks.

The score was 42-20 at the half.

Olivia Dobrovosky poured in 15 points on 6-for-9 from the floor. Kiara Anglin logged nine points, four assists, four steals and four rebounds.

Sarina McDowell had 14 points and seven boards.

Nazareth returns to action on Tuesday, Traveling to Utica for a 5:30 p.m. matchup
