Fairport Varsity Red Raiders got out to a five-run lead in the third inning and held on for a 5-3 victory over Penfield Varsity Patriots on Wednesday. Penfield Varsity Patriots scored three runs in the failed comeback on a in the sixth, a walk by Austin Dillenbeck in the seventh, and a single by Gabe Reyes in the seventh.

Fairport Varsity Red Raiders got things moving in the second inning, when Jackson Rucker doubled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run.

Fairport Varsity Red Raiders tallied three runs in the third inning. Fairport Varsity Red Raiders put the pressure on, lead by a single by Sam Miller, a groundout by Matt Bartusek, and an error on a ball put in play by Rucker.

Antonio Jorge (P) earned the win for Fairport Varsity Red Raiders. Jorge (P) allowed one hit and zero runs over five innings, striking out four and walking one. Miller and Nate Mathis entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief.

Aiden Cook started the game for Penfield Varsity Patriots. The southpaw lasted two innings, allowing three hits and five runs while striking out one. Corey Weiss threw four innings in relief out of the bullpen.

Scott Thompson, Will Stanek, Stephen Rizzolo, Rucker, and Miller each collected one hit to lead Fairport Varsity Red Raiders.

Dillenbeck went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Penfield Varsity Patriots in hits.
