Brockport Varsity Blue Devils snagged a late lead and defeated Pittsford Mendon 3-1 on Monday. The game was tied at one with Brockport Varsity Blue Devils batting in the top of the eighth when Andrew Wilson doubled on a 0-2 count, scoring two runs.
The pitching was strong on both sides. Ryan Maxwell struck out five, while Pittsford Mendon pitchers sat down ten.
In the bottom of the sixth inning, Pittsford Mendon tied things up at one. Pittsford Mendon scored one run when Aidan Lerner-Morelle singled.
Maxwell led things off on the pitcher’s mound for Brockport Varsity Blue Devils. Maxwell allowed four hits and one run over eight innings, striking out five.
Cameron Barbulean was on the pitcher’s mound for Pittsford Mendon. The bulldog surrendered three runs on four hits over seven and a third innings, striking out nine. Ishan Srivastava threw two-thirds of an inning out of the bullpen.
Cooper Harvey, Wilson, David D’Ambrosia, and Brayden Scaccia each collected one hit to lead Brockport Varsity Blue Devils. Brockport Varsity Blue Devils didn’t commit a single error in the field. Wilson had seven chances in the field, the most on the team.
