James Capellupo threw a shutout to lead Hilton Cadets Varsity past Penfield 1-0 on Monday.
The pitching was strong on both sides. Capellupo struck out 14, while Penfield pitchers sat down seven.
One bright spot for Penfield was a single by Gabe Reyes in the sixth inning.
Capellupo was on the pitcher’s mound for Hilton Cadets Varsity. Capellupo lasted seven innings, allowing one hit and zero runs while striking out 14 and walking one.
Gage Wheaton led things off on the hill for Penfield. Wheaton lasted five innings, allowing three hits and one run while striking out six. Jacob Natale threw one inning out of the bullpen.
Brady Gerig led Hilton Cadets Varsity with two hits in two at bats. Hilton Cadets Varsity was sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error. Capellupo made the most plays with three.
Reyes went 1-for-1 at the plate to lead Penfield in hits.
