Fairport Varsity Red Raiders watched the game slip away early and couldn’t recover in a 7-2 loss to Hilton Cadets Varsity on Thursday. Hilton Cadets Varsity took the lead on a single in the second inning.
Hilton Cadets Varsity opened up scoring in the second inning, when John Bianchi singled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run.
Hilton Cadets Varsity scored four runs in the sixth inning. The offensive onslaught by Hilton Cadets Varsity was led by Steven Kraus, Michael Heise, and James Capellupo, who each had RBIs in the inning.
Kraus led things off on the mound for Hilton Cadets Varsity. Kraus lasted five and a third innings, allowing four hits and two runs while striking out six and walking one.
Antonio Jorge was on the mound for Fairport Varsity Red Raiders. The righty allowed ten hits and seven runs over five and two-thirds innings, striking out three. Nate Mathis threw one-third of an inning in relief out of the bullpen.
Owen Andreatta, Jackson Rucker, Sam Miller, and Jorge each collected one hit to lead Fairport Varsity Red Raiders.
Hilton Cadets Varsity racked up 11 hits on the day. Kraus, Heise, and Jeffery Broadnax each racked up multiple hits for Hilton Cadets Varsity. Hilton Cadets Varsity was sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error. Joe Sanna had the most chances in the field with six.
