Gates Chili Varsity Spartans defeated Greece Arcadia 10-6 on Tuesday after taking the lead late in the game. The game was tied at six with Gates Chili Varsity Spartans batting in the top of the seventh when James Connolly singled on a 3-1 count, scoring one run.
There was plenty of action on the basepaths as Gates Chili Varsity Spartans collected nine hits and Greece Arcadia had four.
Greece Arcadia fired up the offense in the second inning, when an error scored one run for Greece Arcadia.
Greece Arcadia scored three runs in the third inning. Greece Arcadia’s big inning was driven by a single by Jathniel Martinez and a groundout by Jack Pilgrim.
Regan Clancy earned the win for Gates Chili Varsity Spartans. The bulldog allowed zero hits and zero runs over one inning, striking out one and walking zero.
Dom Zona started the game for Greece Arcadia. The bulldog allowed three hits and three runs over five innings, striking out four and walking one. Brady Colbert threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen.
Gates Chili Varsity Spartans racked up nine hits in the game. Cole Gorman and Pete Dellefave each managed multiple hits for Gates Chili Varsity Spartans. Gorman led Gates Chili Varsity Spartans with three hits in four at bats.
Parker Drees went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead Greece Arcadia in hits.
