12 Baseball Captures First Empire 8 Championship in 11-0 Rout of Russell Sage

Brockport, NY- The #12 Brockport baseball team are the 2025 Empire 8 Champions, defeating Russell Sage 11-0 in the championship game on Saturday, May 10th at the Clark V. Whited Complex.

The Golden Eagles are heading to NCAA Regionals with a 36-3-2 overall record, finishing conference play with a 21-1-1 record in Empire 8 contests.

Zach Eldred set the tone for the Golden Eagles, tossing seven scoreless innings of two hit baseball, collecting seven punchouts to secure the conference crown.

Jason Story and Nick Mahar both connected for clutch home runs to seal the contest for Brockport.

Frank Vanzillotta went 2-for-4 with a RBI, reaching base safely three times.

James Dixon opened the scoring in the second inning, scoring Kyle Blake with an RBI single to put Brockport up 1-0.

Still a 1-0 game in the sixth inning, Nick Maharwould launch a clutch two-run blast to right field to triple the Golden Eagle advantage to 3-0. The Golden Eagles would seal the contest with an eight-run bottom of the eighth.

Jason Mansell and Frank Vanzillotta would both drive in runs before a Jason Story grand slam would clear the bases and extend the lead to 9-0. Victor Alongi would help round out the Brockport scoring, ripping an RBI single.

Eric Servellon picked up his fourth save of the season, tossing two scoreless innings to secure the Empire 8 Championship.

The victory over Russell Sage secures Brockport’s second conference championship in three years, sending the Golden Eagles to NCAA Regionals for the third time in four years.

Up Next: The Golden Eagles will head to NCAA Regionals on Thursday, May 15th, with the time, location, and opponents still to be determined.
