Rit baseball team outlast Alfred state recap from website below

Baseball outlasts Alfred State, wins 5-4

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – RIT sophomore designated hitter Roberto Reade goes 2-for-4, including a two-run homer to lead the Tigers to a 5-4 victory against Alfred State, Thursday.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • After three scoreless innings from senior starting pitcher John Arnold, the Pioneers took a 1-0 lead after hitting a home run over the left field wall
  • In the fourth, sophomore Jarin Moseshit an RBI single up the middle, scoring senior catcher Kyle Poorman and tying the game at one. Three batters later, Reade hit a two-run homer over the left field wall, putting RIT up 3-1
  • Alfred State tied the game 3-3 in the sixth off of 2 RBI doubles
  • In the bottom of the eighth, Reade earned an RBI double that scored sophomore first baseman Trent Rapp. The next batter, senior utilityman John Bagley hit a RBI single up the middle that scored graduate student pinch runner Zach Mecca, putting the Tigers in front 5-3
  • With a man on first and third, the Pioneers stole second base and then stole home, cutting RIT’s lead to one in the top of the ninth
  • Sophomore relief pitcher Luc Risingwas able to shut out Alfred State for the rest of the inning, earning the save for the Tigers

GAME NOTES

  • Reade had a team-high 3 RBI
  • Graduate student pitcher Eric Siplingand junior pitcher Jacob Statman did not allow any runs or hits in their single inning outings
  • Rapp went 3-for-4 scoring a team-best two runs

WHAT’S NEXT
The Tigers host RPI for a Senior Day doubleheader on Saturday (Apr. 13) with game one beginning at 12:00 p.m.
