Hot Shooting Carries Redhawks In Opener

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Marianna FreemanGeorgia Haverlock and Danielle DiCintio combined to score 61 points as the Roberts Wesleyan University women’s basketball team defeated Felician University 81-75 in its season opener on Friday night at the Voller Athletic Center.
Freeman and Haverlock both scored 21 points and DiCintio contributed 19 points and nine assists. The three guards made 13 of their 23 three-point attempts in the victory as Haverlock went 5-for-6, Freeman sank 4 of 8 and DiCintio made 4 of 9. The Redhawks made 15 of 30 three-pointers in the game.
Roberts outscored Felician 16-9 in the final 3:05 to earn the victory in the first round of the Redhawks Classic. Haverlock and sophomore Grace Galganomade three-pointers on back-to-back possessions to begin the decisive run.
Sophomore Paris Anthony added 11 points and five rebounds for Roberts.
The Redhawks return to action against Bentley at 3:15 p.m. Saturday in the final game of the Redhawks Classic.

Roberts Falls To No. 18 Bentley In Redhawks Classic

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The Roberts Wesleyan University women’s basketball team got off to a fast start on Saturday afternoon, but could not keep pace with Bentley during a non-conference game at the Voller Athletic Center. Bentley was ranked No. 18 in NCAA Division II in the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association preseason rankings. 

The visiting Falcons outscored the Redhawks 42-26 in the paint and pulled away for a 92-57 victory in the Redhawks Classic.

Graduate student Georgia Haverlock scored 14 points to lead the Redhawks (1-1). Sophomores Marianna Freeman and Paris Anthony added 12 points apiece for the Redhawks.

Haverlock and Grace Galgano both snared five rebounds for Roberts and senior guard Danielle DiCintio dished out four assists.

Roberts returns to action on Wednesday for a non-conference game at Clarion University.
