Men’s Basketball Dominates Fredonia for 4th Straight Win

Fredonia, NY – The Golden Eagles won their fourth game in a row on Tuesday night, defeating Fredonia, 71-52, on the road. Brockport improves to 11-5 overall and 7-3 in conference play.

Looking to extend the current win streak, the Green and Gold controlled this conference clash from start to finish. The team opened the game on a 7-0 run, as Jacob Oka got going early. He would finish with a game-high 15 points to go with seven boards, two steals, and a block.

At the 8:20 mark, the Blue Devils hit a 3-pointer that cut the deficit down to just one point. Brockport continued to score in the painted area and rebuilt its lead up to double-digits as halftime got closer. The squad held a comfortable, 38-24, advantage on the scoreboard at the end of the first half.

The Golden Eagles went 12-for-27 from the floor and 14-for-22 at the foul line in the opening half. They played well defensively, holding Fredonia to just 27.6% shooting in the first. The Blue Devils shot just 2-for-12 from long range in the first half of play.

Jevonny Brown provided the spark early on in the second half, which led to a 21-point lead for the Green and Gold. He put together an impressive series of plays that included a 3-pointer, a fastbreak dunk, a steal, and an assist. Brown had 11 points and three steals in the contest.

Brockport led by as many as 24 points in the second half, and held a convincing lead through the finish line. The team repeated its first half shooting percentage (44.4%), going 12-for-27 from the field again in the second. Fredonia was unable to cut into the lead late, as the Golden Eagles cruised to a 19-point win.

Caquan Wester posted his fourth double-double of the year, finishing with 12 points and a game-high 14 boards. Danny Ashley and Tony Arnold were active defensively with four steals each.

Brockport is back on its home floor this weekend for a pair of games. First up is a 7:30pm tip-off against Potsdam on Friday. On Saturday, the Golden Eagles will host Plattsburgh for a 4pm matchup.
